East Gate Alliance Church is a registered charity and we strive to be careful stewards of the funds entrusted to us. The Bible says that God gave his only Son, Jesus, so that we would be saved. But not only did God save us, he also lavishes on us uncountable blessings and an eternal inheritance we can’t comprehend. God’s generosity towards us compels us to be generous in return.

"Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

— Luke 6:38 (NIV)

Everything we have belongs to God. Therefore, we do not really decide how much of our wealth to give, as much as we decide how much of God’s wealth we want to give back to Him. In the Sermon on the Mount, Christ calls his followers to exceed the expectations of the law, so too with giving, we believe that God honours the cheerful giver who faithfully gives a tithe, or ten percent, and who is extravagantly generous with the remaining ninety percent. We believe that giving is an act of worship and reflects our love for, and trust in Him.

"But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand."

— 1 Chronicles 29:14 (NIV)

Donation Categories

Current Fund

This is a general fund that covers all the operational expenses of the church such as staff salaries, utilities, curriculum, office supplies, general maintenance, etc. The general fund represents the largest budgetary need at our church and has the greatest impact on local ministry. Many ministry plans and programs are developed or curtailed depending upon the availability of money in this fund.

Global Advance Fund

This is a fund which is sent directly to the C&MA national office where it is used primarily to support our international workers. A small portion of this fund is used to support Ambrose University College, our denominational school in Calgary, as well as our district superintendents. For 2016, a giving goal is set at $46,000 for this fund.

Home Missions

A portion of this fund (55%) is directed to be used to support church plants in our district (Eastern Ontario & the Maritimes) and other district operations. The other 45% is used to support church sponsored home missions, such as ACTS counseling ministry, Barry Whatley working in Canada and Africa for Outreach Canada, Toronto Alliance Rebuild project and Dina & Ahmed’s ministry to Muslims in Vancouver.

Building Fund

With most of the present building project completed, the majority of funds in the Building Fund will go toward upgrades to the original building such as a kitchen renovation, glass doors to enclose the fireside lounge and a LED display for the church sign. We also want to look toward the future of the ICAC and encourage vision of future building needs.

Special/Designated Funds

A special or designated fund is a program or project that has been approved for donations by the Board of Elders. While every consideration will be made to use donated funds in accordance with the giver’s wishes, each restricted contribution designated towards a Board approved fund, program or project is only accepted on the understanding that the Board may redirect funds if the fund, program or project’s need has been met or completed for any reason determined by the Board. Any contributions given towards a reasonable non-approved program or project will be considered for approval by the Board. Donations to individuals will be processed, however such donations are not receiptable for tax purposes – this would include “love offerings”.

Some examples of special or designated funds are:

  • Ambrose – Official Bible College & Seminary of the C&MA in Canada
  • Benevolent Fund – Helps with basic necessities for those in financial crisis
  • Quizzing, Youth, CFM – Supplements these ministry budgets which often rely on extra giving to run the program
